Council approves Civil Service Commission members
City Council approved several individuals to be either primary or alternative members of the Civil Service Commission, which has the role of testing individuals interested in becoming police officers or firefighters and promotions among the departments.
Neil Hensler, a retired city firefighter; Greg Forsburg, whose term ran out in January; Don Noviello, a former city councilman, and Craig Miller, a political science professor, were approved by council for the volunteer positions.
Miller was elevated to status of a permanent member.
Hensler, who recently retired from the city fire department, and Noviello, were approved as alternate members.
Forsburg was a member of the commission. His term ran out on Jan. 13.
The fire department has recently has re-written its testing rules. The police department is in the process of reviewing and updating the test, city Police Chief Damon R. Hagan said.
Harold “Butch” Anthony, former city fire chief, has stepped down from the commission.
