Lycoming County commissioners approve funding, personnel items

Two of three Lycoming County commissioners Tuesday approved approving nearly $950,000 in natural gas impact fees to go toward housing needs through the state Housing Affordable Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund program.

Commissioners Scott Metzger, chairman, and Rick Mirabito — with Tony Mussare absent — voted 2-0 to approve $948,000 in natural gas impact fee use headed to several agencies that provide housing and rehabilitation needs for low-to-moderate income county residents.

The funding will go toward recipients that include: STEP Inc., Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity, Liberty House, American Rescue Workers and Transitional Living Center.

Commissioners approved the hiring of three correctional officers and a subdivision and land development administrator.

Hired as prison guards were: Danielle T. Smith, Luke Chubb and Jennifer Gies. Each starts at $17.46 per hour. Christopher Hodges was hired in the Department of Planning and Community Development for $35,642.

Commissioners said they will comply with the update on Sunshine Law and publicly post agendas 24 hours in advance of the meetings.

Commissioners convened a Board of Assessments meeting and approved real estate funds for William Barto, $259 and Samuel and Jane Slattery, $108. Barto’s house was destroyed by fire in February and a mathematical error was involved in the second transaction, said Brook Wright, assessor.

Starting at $2.99/week.
