Jersey Shore Board hires nurse

Jersey Shore Area School Board took action on personnel matters, including the hiring of a school nurse, as well as other business during a brief meeting this week.

Hillary Leonard was approved by the board for the nurse position at a salary of $59,443.

The board approved Brandie Brion as Salladasburg Elementary secretary for the school year at a prorated salary of $32,264 and Denise Bosch as a special education paraprofessional at Jersey Shore Area Elementary School for $17,359.

The board also approved the following personnel for positions:

•Heather Garrett, custodian, $14.33 per hour.

•Coral Utter, part-time food service worker, $10.35 per hour.

•Brian Witner, part-time food service substitute, $9 per hour.

The board accepted letters of resignation from Cody Ulmer, middle school wrestling coach, and Brandie Brion, part-time learning support aide.

The board approved an agreement between the district and Geisinger Clinic for athletic physician supervision services.

A donation of $3,967 from Lycoming Engine of Williamsport for the CTE Manufacturing Program was accepted by the board.

Superintendent Brian Ulmer reported to the board that Gov. Tom Wolf has lifted the mask order for school districts beginning in January.

Future Business Leaders of America students reported to the board that they have launched its Stuff the Bus Project to help feed families in need. People can help by donating food items to the project. The bus will be parked throughout the community in high-traffic areas.

The board met in executive session prior to the meeting to discuss legal and personnel issues.
