Lycoming County commissioners bring in 23 new hires

A total of 23 new hires in May were reported to the Lycoming County Commissioners by Jessica Segraves, director of the county’s Human Resources Department at their weekly meeting.

Included in that number were two new positions and five correctional officers at the prison. The total did not include one reclassification at the prison.

Those hired, their position and rate of pay are:

• Resource Management Service: Joseph Bryson, full-time assistant operations manager, $28.12 per hour; Charles Snyder, full-time gas technician, $18.45 per hour; and Gavin Fegley, full-time welder, $18.72 per hour.

• Courts: Genevieve Lannan, part-time temporary secretary, $14.64 per hour; and Stacy Bower, part-time Clerk III, $14.81 per hour.

• Tonya Sawyer, part-time Clerk III, Planning and Community Development, $13.42 per hour..

• Treasurer’s office: Norma Pittenger, full-time Clerk III, $14.44 per hour; Carrie Stein, full-time deputy (promotion). $40,487.

• Prison: Brian Moser, Timothy McElroy, Richard Bennett, Matthew Brewer, Donnie Schell, full-time correctional officers, $18.10 per hour; and Joshua Rogers, reclassification as a lieutenant, $29.71 per hour.

• Gary McCarthy, full-time custodial, facilities management, $12.21 per hour.

• Kaitlyn Corman, full-time domestic relations officer, $42,836, reclassification.

• Casey Loudenslager, full-time financial technician in budget and finance, $17.18 per hour.

• Alison Herman, full-time natural resource planner in planning, $43,666.

• Jared Hetherington, full-time probation officer, $21.95 per hour.

• Pre-Release Center: Eion Hicks Lee, part-time driver, $13.42 per hour and full-time resident supervisor (promotion), $15.75 per hour; Lane Gibson, full-time resident supervisor, (promotion), $17.18 per hour; and Bryssa Dunkleberger, full-time resident supervisor/cook, $15.75 per hour.

• Rick Whalen, part-time telecommunicator I, not to exceed 1,000 hours, $21.65 per hour.

Also on the agenda was the opening of bids for leachate hauling at the county’s landfill. These included a bid from Miller Environmental Group, $170 to $180 an hour based on how many gallons they haul, with increases in 2023 and 2024; and Extreme Trucking, $125 an hour with no increases for 2023 and 2024.

In action items, the commissioners approved the following: a 2022-23 medical assistance transportation program participation grant agreement and assurance of compliance; awards for invitation to bid for food products to Keyco Distributors, Inc, Feesers, Inc. and Sysco Central PA, and for bread products from Bimbo Bakeries USA; an emergency management performance grant application; a change order for Lecce Electric Inc. for the construction of a health center for $2,530; and awarding an auction for miscellaneous surplus computer equipment to Michael Tetteh. The auction generated $16,322.

Three items from Resource Management Services were approved by the commissioners. They were: purchase of Posi Shell Material from LCS Environmental Services; the purchase of signage from the Sign Shop, $15,495; and approval to submit the Annual Compliance History Report for the Landfill and Transfer State to the Department of Environmental Protection. All purchases are budgeted items and are paid through RMS generated funds.

An amendment to an agreement with Daley Tower Service, Inc., extending the date of the tower project to October 2022 and adding $2,600 for each of the two towers for a total of $5,200, was approved by the commissioners.

Two amendments to agreements and two amendments to change orders with Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions, Inc., were given the okay by the commissioners. All four items are related to the levee project.

The next commissioners meeting will be at 10 a.m. June 23 in the Commissioners’ Board Room, Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St.
