Community pool rules updated, security added at Loyalsock

With Loyalsock Township Community Pool the only one open in Greater Williamsport, township supervisors have authorized hiring two security guards and changed the pool rules to ensure youths remain under control and have a nice place to swim and exercise.

The township pool complex is paying for the security guards out of the pool funds and adding trained lifeguards, a pool manager and additional staff to help.

Parents of juveniles must sign the names of children before entering the pool and non-members who are juveniles must write down their name, telephone contact and home address before entering, said Bill Burdett, township manager.

The city pool at Memorial Park is nearing completion with the liner being installed.

That pool had a major water leak last year, most of which was repaired by public works department employees. A year before that the pool was closed due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
