The Montoursville Memorial Gardens commemorate the 16 Montoursville Area High School students and five chaperones who perished aboard TWA Flight 800 on July 16, 1996. All 230 passengers and crew members on the flight were killed 12 minutes into the flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Rome, with a stopover in Paris. The passengers from Montoursville were members of the high school’s French Club and their adult chaperones.
