First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania announces nonprofit grant winners
The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) announced the approval of grants totaling $324,300 to 25 nonprofit organizations Thursday, the organization said in a press release.
Awarded through its competitive grant program, the grants are designed to support initiatives that benefit residents across Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties.
“Eligible nonprofits were invited to apply for funding for projects that enhance arts and culture, education, health and human services, environmental stewardship and economic development,” the press release stated.
FCFP Regional Advisory Board members and staff evaluate each proposal, focusing on factors such as service area, population served, sustainability, community support, demonstrated need, as well as their alignment with grant criteria, according to the release.
Many of 2024’s recipients were from
Lycoming County, including the following, each of which received $15,000 grants for their various needs:
Child Hunger Outreach Partners to expand the Backpack and In-School Pantry Programs throughout several city school campuses, as well as Muncy Junior/Senior High School; Lycoming County to provide protective body armor and ballistic shields for the Narcotics Enforcement Unit; American Rescue Workers’ Fresh Start Program, a long-term work rehab program for homeless men; The New Love Center for renovations to a warehouse on the Clinton/Lycoming County border; West Branch Arts Consortium to support performing arts literacy artists-in-residence performances; Lycoming-Clinton Joinder Board to fund a speaking engagement with former New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice and a “Bridges Out of Poverty” workshop for Joinder staff and community partners; $15,000 for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Community Arts Center for the Decorative Arts Restoration Project of a historic 1928 structure; and Williamsport Independent Media Inc.-WXPI Community Radio 97.1 for antenna placement on the smokestack at the Pajama Factory in Williamsport.

Montgomery Borough, $14,875 for ADA-accessible playground features and interactive music stations at Montgomery Park; Girls on the Run Mid State PA, $20,405 for female-centered evidence-based, positive youth development programing; James V. Brown Library, $12,450 for a bilingual StoryWalk at Young’s Woods Park; Lairdsville Community Volunteer Fire Company, $9,275 for the purchase of a full set of life-saving cordless, hydraulic, extrication tools; Lycoming County Library System, $11,025 for the StoryWalk in Trout Run Park; Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company, $14,945 for the purchase of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Stop-the-Bleed kits for Fire and EMS vehicles; Presbyterian Senior Living, $6,050 to upgraded laundry capacity for residents at Presbyterian Home at Williamsport; Susquehanna Valley CASA-Voices for Children, $5,800 to support the volunteer and community engagement online portal.
