Consultants for City of Williamsport to present year’s accomplishments, next year’s goals at tonight’s council meeting
A Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm working on behalf of Williamsport is expected to present a summary of accomplishments for 2024 and proposals in 2025 to city council tonight.
As city officials weigh whether to renew the contract for Keller Partners & Co., the firm’s representatives are expected to report ongoing efforts to fund the levee’s recertification and downtown economic initiatives.
Councilwoman Liz Miele, chair of the finance committee, said she was in no way minimizing what Keller Partners & Co. has done, but said the administration should consider putting out a request for proposals for consulting firms to give everyone a fair opportunity to bid for consideration.
Mayor Derek Slaughter noted how this firm has helped to bring in millions of dollars worth of grants and other funding source connections in the capital and is in constant contact with city community development personnel.
The firm also is working in tandem with Lycoming County and Williamsport Municipal Water and Sanitary Authority on funding resources. It has been pursuing grant resources and connecting these entities with federal officials for three-plus years.
Costs and more details on the contract renewal are expected to be made public in coming days.
