Woodward Township’s supervisors reelect chairman, fill other positions

LINDEN — Woodward Township Supervisor Jeffrey Stroehmann was re-elected chairman of the Board of Supervisors at their most recent meeting.

The meeting began with Stroehmann announcing there would be two meetings that night.

The first focused on the board’s reorganization, by which Stroehmann was re-elected by his fellow supervisors, Joseph Bertin and Wayne Robinson.

Bertin was then re-appointed vice-chairman with Robinson.

Other town offices also were filled or reconfirmed.

Brad Eisenhower will continue to serve as zoning officer. Pamela Musser will continue as town secretary and treasurer.

Robinson was reappointed road superintendent.

James Carpenter was appointed chairman of the vacancy board. Justin Ulmet and Craig Grove were appointed planning commission members while Charles Blanchard was appointed zoning hearing board member.

Bassett Engineering, of Montoursville, was chosen as town engineer, and Drier Law Firm, from Jersey Shore, was reappointed town solicitor.

The board approved a 3% wage increase, payments to Drier Law Firm for $145 per hour for attorney services and $60 per hour for paralegal/legal assistant services.

Marc Drier, with the firm, said, in a telephone conversation, he was happy to continue to work with Woodward Township.

“I was pleased to be reappointed,” Drier said. “It is a privilege to work with the (supervisors). They work very hard to assist their constituents.”

The attorney said that he has had a relationship with the town for over a decade. In the year to come, the focus of work will be on zoning.

“We are working hard with the zoning [ordinances] and zoning compliance to address the blighted properties and enforce the codes.”

At the business meeting, financial decisions made included Worker’s Compensation Insurance for Township Volunteer Fire Company, to be shared with Anthony Township, who would “be billed for their share.”

This insurance would be for firefighters “in the line of duty, during all training sessions and all fundraisers,” township officials said.

Robinson, road superintendent, was granted permission to spend $1,000 for emergency finances without the board’s approval.

Reimbursement for mileage was set at a rate of 70 cents per mile as of Jan. 1 for use of one personal vehicle for supervisors to attend the meetings, and to employees for job-related activities.

Musser was authorized to pay bills with due dates that fell before regular meeting dates to avoid penalties and take advantage of discounts.

The next scheduled meeting will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the municipal building, 89 Moore Road Ext., Suite 1, Linden.

Starting at $2.99/week.
