Local businesses spread the love for Lycoming County United Way

KAREN VIBERT-KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette Joe Weber, Lycoming County United Way board member; Ron Frick, president and CEO; Amber Newell, community impact director; Savannah Lorson, adminsitrative manager and LaTricia Scutchina, board member; enjoy their "Cups of Love" at Alabaster Coffee in Williamsport on Wednesday.

Throughout the month of February, LCUW will be the recipient of Alabaster’s Community Tap program, a grassroots benevolence effort shared among participating local businesses and sponsors to give back to local nonprofit and charitable organizations.

Instead of the Strawberry Cappuccino, this year, Alabaster’s “Cup of Love” will be the Community Tap Blend, which combines washed process coffees from Colombia and Guatemala to create a crisp, medium-bodied coffee with sweet balanced tasting notes of milk chocolate, toffee and stone fruit.

With the sale of every cup of Community Tap brewed coffee, Alabaster will donate $1 to LCUW.

They will also be selling the Community Tap Coffee Blend in 12 oz retail bags both instore and online with $1 being donated from each of those.

Again, this year, the United Way is also leveraging the generosity of corporate and individual donors to increase the value of each cup sold at Alabaster. To date, over $7,000 has been committed to support this effort.

For the third year in a row, the Bullfrog Brewery will be donating $2 from every “Pint of Love” to LCUW. This year’s choice is their Billtown Blonde, a refreshing ale with light citrus nuances and a nice malt backbone.

The money collected will directly benefit the local United Way and the 36 community programs they support in Lycoming, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Alabaster for the fourth year and Bullfrog for the third year.

Proceeds from these promotions and sponsors provide critical support for our community programs. We hope the community will come out to support our efforts, but also to support some of our locally owned business partners as well,” said Ron Frick, LCUW’s president and CEO.

Starting at $2.99/week.
