Sun-Gazette wins 14 statewide awards
The newsroom staff of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette recently earned 14 Keystone Media Awards for reporting, page design, video coverage and headline writing.
Design editor Tim Wertz won six for sports page design, news page design and graphic photo illustration — two in each category. Wertz and Nick Seitzer also won a first-place award for the Hunt magazine published by the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
Dave Kennedy won three for the Sun-Gazette’s video coverage of news and local sports. Reporter Mark Maroney won for his feature reporting on a Williamsport native reflecting on his time as a White House staff during President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Jon Gerardi, sports editor, won two awards for page design and a third for headline writing.
“The Sun-Gazette’s staff, in all departments, work tirelessly to bring communities in our region the most comprehensive reporting we can,” Michael C. Maneval, managing editor of the Sun-Gazette, said. “We are proud to see our newsroom continue our tradition of being thoroughly represented among Keystone Media Award winners for yet another year and, as always, we look forward to continuing to keep Lycoming County and the surrounding region informed about what their government, their courts, their local sports teams and their neighbors are doing and more.”
