Council: Police to continue providing Williamsport Area School District with resource officers

Williamsport Area School District once again will get the service of school resources officers.

City Council approved a resolution authorizing a memorandum of understanding between the city and the school district as presented by Assistant Chief Jason Bolt for the school resource officers.

The current cost for two fulltime officers is $140,250 for the school year.

The district encompasses the city and the townships of Hepburn, Woodward, Old Lycoming, Lycoming and Lewis.

Other council action included:

Resolution authorizing the $4,500 purchase of remote monitoring & management platform presented by Kris Black, information technology.

Resolution authorizing an agreement not to exceed $109,359.96 between the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and Motorola Solution as presented by Melanie Shutt, grants administrator, for radios.

Resolution authorizing an agreement between the city and Williamsport Redevelopment Authority for community development to administer the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability Rehabilitation Enhancement funding as presented by Valerie Fessler, director of community development.

Resolution to accept municipal waste program.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be held 7 p.m. Sept. 4.
