Mary E. Harer

Mary E. Harer, 95, formerly of Isabella St., Williamsport, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Leighton Place.
Mary was born in Philadelphia, on Sept. 24, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Blee) Crossley.
She was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School and an active member at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, where she was a eucharistic minister. Mary also was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Lady of Victory, and she volunteered at bingo. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo at St. Joseph the Worker and later at Leighton Place.
Mary had been employed as a bookkeeper and handling secretarial duties at Northern Central Bank, The Grit and Valley Farms.
Her first husband, John S. Bower, passed away Sept. 11, 1960, and husband, Truman Harer, died Jan. 30, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Frank (Maryellen) Bower, of Williamsport; grandson, John M. (Jennifer) Bower, of Lebanon; and great-grandchildren, Johnathon Bower and Jenna Bower; and many cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at St. Joseph the Worker, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating, followed by burial at St. Boniface Cemetery.
