David Nelson Hinaman Jr.
David Nelson Hinaman Jr., 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born on Nov. 23, 1947, in Williamsport, he was the son of David and Alice Hinaman Sr.
David was a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College and Penn State University. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service and was a Vietnam Veteran. After his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Department of Public Welfare. He was a member of the St. Matthias Lutheran Church. David was president of the Lewisberry Gun Club, and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, the Army and Navy Lodge No. 306 at Hampton Roads, Virginia, and the Williamsport Scottish Rite. David was a Penn State football fan and supporter. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and fly fishing.
David is survived by his parents, David and Alice Hinaman, his loving wife of 51 years, Trinka (Case) Hinaman; daughter, Rebecca Foster (Rick), of Smithfield, VA; siblings, Gary Hinaman, Cindy Charters (Dave), Tacey Cullen (Denny), Doris Quail (Terry), Arthur Hinaman (Judy), and Lori Zellefrow (Lou); sister-in-law, Ann Case; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Hinaman.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 3 p.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA, with Vicar Thomas Busteed officiating. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
