John H. Speaker

John H. Speaker, 77, of Williamsport passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Hospital. Born on July 18, 1942, in Shunk, he was the son of the late John (Jack) R. Speaker and Ruth E. (Shadduck) Cook.

John was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1959 — 1967. He was a member of the Balls Mills United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting.

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Colleen W. (Burkins) Speaker; a son, Todd S. (Sheila) Speaker, of Cogan Station; a daughter, Teresa C. (Scott) Ashley, of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Trevor R. Speaker, John R. Ashley, Sarah N. Ashley; and a great-grandson, Grayson R. Ashley.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Speaker and Marion E. Higley; brother, Charles R. Speaker; and a granddaughter, Amber L. Ashley.

A memorial service to honor the life of John will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at the Balls Mills United Methodist Church, 5941 Bloomingrove Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728, with Rev. Chris Pfleegor officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in John’s memory to the church.
