William A. ‘Alec’ Dempsey III

William A. “Alec” Dempsey III, 55, of Hughesville, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at his home.

Born Oct. 11, 1963, in Scranton, he was a son of the late William A. II and Harriet A. (Stickler) Dempsey. He and his wife, the former June M. Potts, celebrated 15 years of marriage on Aug. 7, 2019.

Alec was employed at Wolyniec Construction for the past 11 years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, shooting pool and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Sierra Dempsey, of West Milton; three sons, Alec (Rachael) Henry, of Fouke, Ark., Luke Henry, of Dallas, and Stephan (Autumn) Dempsey Authement, of West Columbia, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Melissa (Brian Anderson) Long, and Alicia (Brian) McCormick, both of Hughesville; a stepson, Ronnie (Katie) Wert, of Unityville; two sisters, Debbie (Donald) Littlejohn, of Bernsville, and Leeann (Charles) Hill, of Grayson, Ga.; a mother-in-law, Carole Potts, of Hughesville; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his beloved dogs, Toby and Casper; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alec was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Herman J. Potts, and his sister-in-law, Michelle Kishbaugh.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Pastor Doug W. Mellott officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
