Esther L. Thomas
Mrs. Esther L. Thomas, 93, longtime resident of South Williamsport, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at AristaCare of Loyalsock. She was the widow of the late Glenn E. Thomas.
Born Jan. 24, 1926, at Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Nuneville Swinehart. Esther had been employed at the former C. A. Reed Paper Company of Williamsport where she had been a napkin folder. Esther enjoyed performing jigsaw puzzles along with vegetable and flower gardening. She especially enjoyed her pet dogs.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie J. Thomas, of South Williamsport; and her four sisters, Stella Shaffer, of DuBoistown, Sara Howlett, of Williamsport, Joan Collins, of Williamsport, and Huldah King, also of Williamsport.
In addition to her late parents and her late husband, she was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Shipman and Florence King; along with her four brothers, John Swinehart, Dan Swinehart, Charles Swinehart and William Swinehart Sr.
Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m Thursday, Jan. 16, at the committal chapel of Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Chaplain Tom Brokaw of Susquehanna Health and Hospice will officiate.
There will be no visitation and flowers will be provided by her family.
