Janet Lee Coleman

Janet Lee Coleman (Bethards), 52, of Montoursville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. Born Nov. 12, 1967 in Anaheim, Calif., she was a daughter of John Bethards and Kathryn Ehrhardt.

Janet was a graduate of Northern Arizona University, where she met Chris Coleman and they married in 1992. They had two daughters, Lindsey Coleman and Ashley “Bell” Coleman. Janet spent her 20’s and 30’s raising her girls. She loved them with all her heart, was proud of their accomplishments and happily supported their dreams. After her daughters became adults, she worked for a couple of large companies, especially enjoying drafting work. She moved to Pennsylvania and started a new chapter of her life with Shawn Reis. They were kindred spirits and loved life together.

From her early childhood, she spent summers at Lake Mokoma in Laporte. The lake was her happy place where days were spent with family and loved ones. As long as she felt the warm sunshine on her skin, she was happy. She was a woman of substance and a genuinely compassionate, creative and tenacious spirit. Janet will always be remembered as a bright soul who fought her battle with depression. Her presence was a precious gift to all who knew her and she always wanted what was best for everyone around her.

She was pre-deceased by Chris Coleman, John Bethards and her grandfather, Dr. Charles R. Ehrhardt.

Surviving are her grandmother, Mitzi Ehrhardt; mother, Kathryn Bethards; two daughters, Lindsey and Bell; and her partner in life, Shawn Reis.

In keeping with her wishes, services will be private at a later date.

Donations can be made to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention where there is a campaign in her name, or visit www.bit.ly/3aoc2g1.

Keep Janet’s spirit alive and be kind to those around you. You never know what they may be going through.
