Van Lee Hall

Van Lee Hall, 78, of Unityville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center. He was born Dec. 15, 1941 in Jordan Township, a son of the late Milton “Mike” Brady and Fannie Katherine (Gordner) Hall.

He graduated from Hughesville High School Class of 1959 and joined the United States Navy where he was a Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer. He served in the Navy from 1959 until 1979, and then served in the Merchant Marines from 1981 until 1986. He, and his late wife, Delores, owned the Sonestown Hotel from 1979 until 1981. Van then worked at Poloron from 1986 until 1991 and at Kleerdex, now known as Kydex, from 1991 until he retired in 2002. Van enjoyed his grandchildren, talking to people, wood working, fishing, reading and enjoyed his little house and sitting on his porch. His favorite place to visit was Englewood, Fla.

He was a member of Benton VFW Post 831, American Legion Arthur Bardo Post 564, and Oriental Lodge 460 of Orangeville.

Van is survived by three daughters, Brenda Murray, of Englewood, Fla., Laura Hall of Clearwater, Fla., Georgette Bond and husband Robert, of Englewood, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tony Kessler, Aaron Kessler, Amanda Laura; and three great-grandchildren, Kahlan, Gabriel Van and Ellie; as well as a sister-in-law, Shirley Hall; and partner and caregiver, Bonnie Jarrett.

Van was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife, the former Delores Lane, who passed away Aug. 11, 2008, a brother, Gordon Hall, and sister, June Kessler.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 8, at 2 p.m., at Millville American Legion Post 564, 259 Legion Road, Millville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
