Russell W. Lovelace

Russell Wayne Lovelace, 73, passed away from COVID-19 on May 19, 2020, in Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Maryland.

Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Horace W. Lovelace and late Lois H. Lovelace. Russell was a graduate of Montgomery Area High School.

During the Vietnam War, he did a four year tour of duty in the Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge, stationed in the Pacific. Upon returning from the war, he secured a position at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where he remained for the next 31 years. Russell was on a cabinet making team assigned specifically to Air Force One and worked under six presidents for the duration of his career. He received many citations for his outstanding work on the Presidential plane.

He is survived by a son, Alan Lovelace (Jessica); a daughter, Courtney Sturm (Ashley); three grandchildren, Ryleigh, Tyler and Kinzley; two sisters, Faith Atkinson, of Franklin, Va., and Cindy Harris, Doylestown; and five nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lynn Larry Lovelace; and a niece, Dawn Arlee Hinkle.
