Rose M. Strouse

Rose M. Strouse, 84, of Williamsport, passed away, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at Manor Care South. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Max Strouse Sr., in May 2001.

She was born on May, 18, 1936 in Williamsport, and was the daughter of William and Gertrude Steinbacher Connell.

Rose was a cashier at Wegman’s from June 2001 until her retirement in December 2015. She loved her job and the customers she waited on.

She was known by many names, mom, gram, Mimi and MeRose as her oldest great-grandson dubbed her when he was small and he tried to say Grammy Rose. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. Rose loved going out to eat at Henry’s BBQ and to OIP for lasagna with her besties, Joyce Wall and Nancy McClain. She loved cats and had many over the years. Her visits to the Cat Cafe with her daughters and caring friend, Ellen Mecum, brought many smiles.

Rose is survived by a son, Max Strouse Jr. of South Williamsport; two daughters, Terry (Bob) Clarkson, of Lindley, N.Y., and Sherry (Jim) Bower of Millersville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Balls Mills Cemetery.
