Rolland E. ‘Buzz’ Barto

Rolland E. “Buzz” Barto, 90, of Hughesville, died peacefully, Friday, June 11, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born April 22, 1931 in the family homestead, he was the last surviving child of the late G. Henry and Anna Bell (Pentz) Barto. On Nov. 29, 1952, he married the former Daisy F. McDonald, who survives. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Buzz attended the Frantz School House. He served honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for 10 years at the former Anton-Waldman Corp., Hughesville, before beginning his career as a self-employed logger. After retiring from logging, he continued cutting and providing firewood for sale.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown.

An avid outdoorsman, Buzz loved landscaping around his home and creating beautiful gardens. He enjoyed woodworking and building things. Buzz was also fond of riding the four-wheeler with the company of his dog.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Barb (Tim) Campbell, Roseanna Barto and Connie Dyer, all of Hughesville and Gregory Barto, of Bellefonte; 10 grandchildren, Angel, Eric, Brandy, Jess, Cody, Autumn, Brittney, Faith, Ariell and Ava Rose; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Debroah Barto; five brothers; three sisters; and a great-great-grandchild, Jack.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his minister, Pastor Jason King, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hughesville.
