Hazel Mae Koch

Hazel Mae Koch, 85, of 1109 Isabella St., Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021.

Born Sept. 3, 1936, she was a daughter of Edward and Thelma Bussom.

She and her husband, Donald W. Koch Sr., were married for 68 years.

Hazel was a devoted wife and homemaker.

She was a huge fan of Penn State football.

She enjoyed a wide variety of arts and crafts, selling many of her creations at area fairs. She also enjoyed her backyard flower and vegetable gardens and looked forward to each summer’s harvest.

Hazel retired as a cafeteria worker at the Williamsport Area High School, after which she co-owned the Senate Bar and Grill with her husband and oldest son.

Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Donald W. Koch Jr. and Thomas E. Koch, both of Williamsport; three daughters, Laura L. Janssen of Williamsport, Teresa A. (Kenneth) Angstadt of Oriole and Carol A. Billman of Loyalsock Township; a sister, Mary Lou Hamm of Avon, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jacob A. Koch of Selinsgrove, Kristen M. Thompson of Fayetteville, N.C., Christopher S. Janssen of State College, Dana G. Janssen of Portland, Ore., Melissa S. Cosgrove of Powhatan, Va., Nathaniel J. Angstadt of Charlestown, Indiana, Robert T. Billman of Williamsport and Kendra L. Billman of Loyalsock Township; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Robert and Ronald Bussom; a half-sister, Mina Jane; and a granddaughter, Carissa A. Billman.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Hazel Mae Koch may be made, if so desire to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
