Martha B. Gaskin
Martha B. Gaskin, 81, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. “Bill” Gaskin on May 26, 2024.
Born November 26, 1942, in Fort Bragg, NC, she was the daughter of the late F. Rees and Jane Louise (Bodine) Brower.
After completing high school, Martha pursued higher education in Baltimore, MD, and in 1963, she graduated from Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her career was a testament to her caring nature, as she served with compassion and professionalism as a surgical assistant for Dr. Stryker and Dr. Shatz at Susquehanna Health. Martha’s expertise in the medical field extended to her role as a certified coder for Geisinger, where she concluded her career upon retirement in 2007. Martha was also active with many activities while living in Brady Township.
Martha was a proud associate member of Lodge 29 of the Fraternal Order of Police in Williamsport and an esteemed member of the American Academy of Certified Coders. Her love for animals shone brightly through her cherished pets, and her creative spirit was evident in her hobbies of sewing and quilting, which brought comfort and beauty to many.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara G. Ryan (Cyrus) of Muncy and Stephanie J. Gaskin-Hoffman (Adam) of Cogan Station; five grandchildren Michael (Martina), Ashley, Andrew (Heather), Nichole (Dalton), and Kaitlin (Cody); and ten great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
