Richard C. “Ducky” Hughes
Richard C. “Ducky” Hughes, 77, of Jersey Shore, went to be with his Lord and beloved wife of 50 years, Linda F. (Cohick) Hughes, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family.
Born April 22, 1947, in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late Clarence E. Hughes Sr. and Margaret G. (Swales) Hughes.
Ducky graduated from Jersey Shore Area High School in 1965. He retired from High Steel Structures, formerly known as Williamsport Fabricators, after 43 years of committed service. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his contributions to the company were deeply valued by all who worked alongside him.
Ducky’s interests and hobbies were a reflection of his character. Always busy, he loved working with his hands, whether it was tinkering with a project or building a two-story playhouse for his daughters. Those who knew Ducky would describe him as a God-fearing man who was not only handy but also kind-hearted and faith-filled. His ability to provide for his family, his hard work, and his dedication to spending quality time with his loved ones were the trademarks of his life.
Surviving are his two daughters, Tania L. Myers (Shawn A.) of Williamsport and Kristie J. Hughes of Jersey Shore; Ducky’s siblings, Clarence E. Hughes Jr. (Kathy) of Jersey Shore, Anna M. Levin of Fort Mohave, Arizona, Lillian G. Kane (William) of Williamsport, and Mary M. Lamey (Timothy) of Jersey Shore; a step-grandson, Tyler Myers; many nieces and nephews; and his daughter’s dog Laney, who was always by his side, protective and loyal. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Cody Myers.
A private graveside service will be in Woodward Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal or church related charity of donor’s choice.
