Harry E. Hare
Harry E. Hare, 72, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Rose View Center. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Lynn M. (Peters) Hare on December 17, 2021.
Born January 10, 1952, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Harry E. Hare and Mabel (Oliphant) Stephenson.
Harry attended New Castle Senior High School, graduating in 1970. He furthered his education, earning an associate’s degree in Business Administration from American InterContinental University. After graduation, Harry embarked on a career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer in Washington, D.C. for four years. Harry’s journey then took a spiritual turn as he answered a higher calling to become a Pastor, shepherding his congregation with love and wisdom. Later, he continued to protect and serve as a security director at the former Lycoming Mall.
Harry was a member of the Greenview Alliance Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he lived it out with joy. Harry’s life was one marked by dedication to his community, unwavering faith, and a quick-witted humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He had the rare ability to lift spirits with a well-timed joke and to provide comfort and guidance through his deep understanding of faith.
Family was the heart of Harry’s world. He is survived by his children, Shannon M. Hare and Christopher M. Hare, both of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Juliana M. Hare and Gavin M. Hare; two brothers, Gary Hare of New Castle and Carl Stevenson (Teddy-Jo) of Elwood City; two sisters, Sharon Singer (Sam) of New Castle and Joyce Kirk (Ronnie) of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor the life of Harry will be announced at a later date.
