Marilyn D. Wehler

Marilyn D. Wehler, 77, of Jersey Shore, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at her home.

Born September 27, 1947 in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter to the late Carlisle S. Devine and the former Edith Jewell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Wehler on November 9, 2011, they were united in marriage on February 25, 1967; a granddaughter, Bethany Wehler, and a son-in-law, Robert Bloom.

She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore and active in United Methodist Women, serving on many committees throughout her life. She taught Sunday School and was also the Youth Group Leader for many years. Perhaps her most beloved ministry was planning many church dinners over the years. She was a constant presence in the Church Kitchen, often organizing soup sales, luncheons and various dinners.

For many years she also volunteered her time at the Food Bank at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Marilyn was also a avid card player. She played bridge with various groups over the years and loved hosting bridge club at her house. She was also active in the Jersey Shore Garden Club and always enjoyed expressing her creativity through flower arranging and gardening.

Marilyn’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to play games with them and was always ready to whip up a meal or dessert. She made it seem effortless. Anyone who knew Marilyn they knew that her way to express affection and caring was though food. She loved to cook a meal for anyone who would enter her kitchen.

She is survived by her son, Robert W. (Pam) Wehler, of Jersey Shore; daughter, Cara L. Wehler Bloom, of Bellefonte; sister, Carolyn (Norman) Ludwig, of Jersey Shore; and grandchildren, John (Courtney), Reece, Brayden and Galen.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations can be made to Jersey Shore Care Share, Sojourner Truth Ministries or the Jersey Shore Public Library.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25 at Welker Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
