Carlyle J. Rell, 88, of Nippenose Valley, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 at Valley View Nursing Center.

Born March 19, 1936 in Collomsville, he was a son to the late Elmer Rell and the former Isabell Eck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elizabeth R. “Betty” Keller; and three siblings, George, Bernard and Phyllis.

Carlyle graduated from Jersey Shore High School and continued on to honorably serve in the United States Army. He worked for New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail from 1955-1996. He owned and operated the Fruit Bowl with his sister , Phyllis in Charleton, PA and operated Rell’s Roadside Stand in Nippenose Valley for 32 years. Carlyle was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and was a train enthusiast, and loved tinkering with his model train display.

He is survived by twin children, Carlyle J. (Becky) Rell of Jersey Shore and Carlene J. (Richard) Bower of Williamsport; a sister, Mary Shuhler; sister-in-law, Patricia Rell; six grandchildren, Carlyle Rell Jr., Colton Rell, Jackie (Arthur) Bartley, Jessica (Scott) Gross, Benjamin (Shalissa) Bower, and Megan (Matt) Patterson; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 6001 Jacks Hollow Rd., Williamsport, Pa 17702. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, Feb. 19 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
