Gloria G. (Pyle) Stere

Gloria G. (Pyle) Stere, 84, of Montoursville, died at her home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born January 4, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Buford E. and Lillian M. (Martin) Gleason. She and her husband of 36 years Robert S. Stere, Jr. shared a wonderful life.
Gloria graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Gloria was a talented seamstress and entrepreneur, proudly owning and operating Stere Sewing Machine Center, where she shared her love of sewing with others. She had a creative spirit, pouring her heart into crafts and sewing, especially when making Halloween costumes for her granddaughters a tradition filled with love and laughter. She was an avid traveler, exploring the United States and Europe, always eager to embrace new experiences and cultures. Her compassion for animals was evident in her dedication to dog rescue, and she was a lifelong pet lover, finding joy in the companionship of her furry friends. Gloria’s green thumb was displayed in her gardens, where she found peace and fulfillment in nurturing flowers and plants. She also had an eye for antiques, enjoying the hunt for unique and cherished pieces. A devoted baseball and football fan, Gloria was a season ticket holder for the Williamsport Crosscutters. She never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Pittsburgh Pirates. She was also passionate about college football, proudly supporting Penn State and Notre Dame. Game days were filled with excitement, conversation, and plenty of team spirit. Above all, Gloria was a woman of love, dedication, and creativity whose passions brought joy to her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert S. Stere, Jr., of Montoursville; son, Jim C. Pyle, of Rockwall, Texas, and his two daughters, Madison and Victoria Pyle; and son Daniel E. Pyle, of Mansfield, Arkansas.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Lillian Gleason.
Funeral Services will be held at noon, Monday, February 10, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville, 733 Broad Street Montoursville, Pennsylvania, with Bishop Council Nedd II officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday at the Funeral Home.
