Harry “Jim” Smith

Harry “Jim” Smith, 92, of Muncy, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence.
Born August 16, 1932, in Sunbury, he was a son of the late Harry and Marguarite (Fulkrod) Smith. Jim married Mary E. Smith on June 12, 1956, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Following his graduation from high school, Jim enlisted with United States Navy on Feb. 27, 1951, and served as a 2nd Class Petty Officer during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on Feb. 14, 1955.
He graduated from the Williamsport Area Community College with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Following his graduation, Jim was employed with Young Industries as a salesman for 35 years before retiring. Outside of work, he was a member of the American Legion and the local Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, especially going on fishing trips to Canada, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail (Bill) Kocher, of Hughesville; a son, Jamie (Lisanne) Smith, of Granby, Colo.; a sister, Sandy (Roger) Wagner, of Sunbury; a brother, John Smith, of New Berlin; and a sister-in-law, Gail Schrader, of Sunbury. He also has four grandchildren, Sara Caster of Muncy, Ashley Mroczka of Mahanoy City; Sawyer Smith of Granby, Colo., and Sierra Smith of Granby, Colo.; and five great-grandchildren, Hailey Mroczka, Hunter Mroczka, Kaden Caster, Kameron Caster, and Karson Caster.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith and a sister, Annabelle Hackenberg.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Muncy Cemetery.
