James M. “Jimmy” Gair

James M. “Jimmy” Gair, 51, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born February 11, 1974, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Ida Mae Gair.

Jimmy dedicated 29 years of his life to Wirerope Works, where he worked diligently as a steel worker. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and his passion for life’s many adventures.

Jimmy’s love for sports was a cornerstone of his life. He was deeply involved in his community as a coach, umpire, and manager for several little league games and teams, including the Brandon Little League and the Loyalsock Little League. His leadership on the field and his encouraging presence will be greatly missed by the many young lives he touched. Jimmy’s kindness extended beyond his immediate circle. He was a hero in the most genuine sense, having saved two lives through the selfless act of kidney donation.

An adventurous soul, Jimmy found joy in the simplicity of paddleboarding, bike riding, and taking his dogs to the river. He was a supporter of local sports teams and an avid fan of Penn State football. Music was another of Jimmy’s passions. A devoted Pearl Jam fan, he loved nothing more than experiencing live music and attending concerts.

Surviving Jimmy is his previous wife, Denay M. Gair, the mother of his beloved three children; Tiana E. Gair of Arlington, VA, Aiden J. Gair, and Elija A. Gair, both of Williamsport; his granddaughter, Laina A. Gair-Holt; his mother-in-law Linda Schuck; brother-in-law Aaron W. Strayer; two sisters-in-law Melissa J. Strayer and Nikki L. Strayer; his three cousins, Mark Gair, Michael Gair, and John Geasey; many amazing nieces and nephews; and three dogs, Izzy, Buddy, and Eddie.

A memorial service to honor the life of Jimmy will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jimmy’s name to the West End Babe Ruth Baseball 30 Eldred Street Williamsport, PA 17701.
