Miriam B. Johns

Miriam B. Johns, 92, of Montoursville, formerly of Williamsport, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport with her family by her side.
Born June 16, 1932, in Greenwood Twp, Columbia County, she was the daughter of the late Christian F. and Pearl M. (Bitler) Fausey.
For over five decades, Miriam served as the local PA State Registrar of Vital Statistics in Lycoming County for the Department of Health, a role in which she held since 1971 and displayed unwavering commitment and meticulous attention to detail.
Miriam’s passion for politics and civic engagement was evident through her life membership in the Young Men’s Democratic Club, where she was the first woman member. Her democratic influence extended further as a member since 1966 of the Lycoming County Democratic Committee, where she served many years as secretary. She also served as campaign manager for many elected officials. Miriam enjoyed knitting, word-puzzles, reading, gardening, cooking, and traveling. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Surviving are three children, Michael P. Johns of Montoursville, Patrick S. Johns (Janet) of Williamsport, and Valerie D. Johns of Montoursville; two grand-daughters Sara Johns (John) and Tesa Johns-Bostick (Jake); soon to be expecting her first great grand-daughter; as well as her beloved dog Otis.
A funeral service to honor Miriam’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Pine Center Cemetery, Columbia County. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
