Eugene L. Kurtz

It is with great sorrow that the family of Eugene L. Kurtz wants to announce his passing peacefully on July 16, 2025, at 7:15 p.m. from this life into the presence of his Heavenly Father.

Eugene was born on November 1, 1941, in Williamsport, to Elmer and Ruth Kurtz.

Eugene graduated from Montoursville Area School District where he met his future wife, Sandra S. Kurtz. He was always involved in his two sons’ extracurricular activities, and in later years Eugene gave the same loving support to his five grandchildren.

Eugene’s generosity and devotion to his family are two qualities that he was known for within his family and community. Eugene was employed by GTE Sylvania for over 20 years, FedEx for 14 years and retired from the Montoursville Area School District.

His joys in life were with his family and their activities, taking day trips with his wife and close friends, spending time with his bible study group, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Craig M. Kurtz (Rhonda) of Montoursville, and Kevin A. Kurtz (Allyson), of Loyalsock; five grandchildren, Jourdan, Zachary, Carissa, Lydia and Shelby; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sandy (Walk) Kurtz, and a brother, Pat Kurtz.

Eugene and Sandy were married January 7, 1961, at the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, and celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing. They were inseparable from the first time they met until her passing into eternity. Eugene will be fondly missed by all the friends and families that he touched while on this Earth.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Montoursville Cemetery, with Pastor Timothy Snyder officiating. A funeral luncheon will follow in the Lycoming Valley Baptist Church social hall as a celebration of Eugene’s life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eugene’s name to Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Dr., Montoursville, PA 17754.
