Under new leader, Hope not resting on its excellence

Rob Labatch, new president of Hope Enterprises, has been doing a lot of homework the past few months.

He took over in December for longtime Hope President Jim Campbell, who set a standard of excellence at Hope that bears emulating.

Labatch is looking to somehow enhance Hope’s programs with some heavy duty outreach.

He has been entertaining focus groups to discuss what could be changed for the betterment of Hope participants and employees and looking for concerns or ideas of how to update programs.

He has been taking input from staff, individuals and families to create the best in the programs that are meant for the people being served by Hope.

Additionally, Labatch has been gathering feedback from community partners to assure Hope is providing services that match community needs. He is hoping to get participants more involved in community activities through volunteering, employment and pre-employment services.

The goal is that additional support to the community will foster greater support of Hope in return. So don’t be surprised to see Hope participants doing volunteer projects for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank or the Lycoming County SPCA.

The increased participation requires greater need for transportation of Hope participants. That takes more money and Labatch is looking into additional grants to meet that need.

The new leader of Hope took over an organization that is nationally recognized for its work with the mentally challenged.

The battery of initiatives he has embarked on signals that the organization, far from resting on its laurels, is looking to become even more effective in the community.
