North Korean leaders learning lying does not work with Trump group

One can understand why North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un thought he could get away with lying to President Donald Trump. He and his predecessors did it successfully with previous presidents, so why not?

But Kim’s failure to keep his promises about abandoning nuclear weapons is not working this time. Recently, U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis said joint military exercises with South Korean forces, suspended for a time as a show of good faith to Kim, are resuming.

Good. Back-channel talks between U.S. and North Korean officials continue. But Pyongyang has not made the promised progress toward denuclearization.

Trump is right in his belief that ramping up pressure on the regime is the only way to persuade Kim to keep his promises.
