CAC finds a way to stop the spread of GRINCH-2020
So many traditions, gone in a flash. So many happy moments, stolen by the pandemic — let’s call it GRINCH-2020.
We missed life events and community events. Many weddings were postponed and traditional proms were not held. Seniors graduated but in novel, socially distanced ways.
We missed the annual Billtown Blues Festival and the Lycoming County Fair. There was no Little League World Series, no Mummers Parade in South Williamsport, no Laurel Festival or Flaming Foliage either.
Even fall football hasn’t quite been the same game.
Gone is this year’s Dickens of a Christmas in Wellsboro. Williamsport’s Victorian Christmas has been postponed for a year.
But how do you postpone the happiness sparked by the sight of Santa in a young child’s heart?
You don’t. You just don’t.
And so we are grateful to the Community Arts Center for their creative approach to making sure that the youngsters this year will get to safely experience the annual Skip Hunsinger Christmas Spectacular, set for 10 a.m. Dec. 5.
The event is being turned into a drive-thru celebration in front of the Community Arts Center, complete with Santa, music and gift bags for the kiddies.
Way to go, CAC and its Volunteer Corps, it makes us happy to know that you are doing this!
