I just read this mornings headline in today’s (7/12) paper, “Ssshh, locals sleeping.”
I wrote a letter awhile back about the train noise in Newberry. Personally, I feel bad that the people had to complain about the most “beautiful noise in the world.”
I was born when my parents lived on Race Street, off of Memorial Avenue, and the old steam engines ran past our backyard and back then you never thought of complaining about the noise, you just lived with it.
Up here in Blossburg, there are no trains, and oh how I miss not hearing that “beautiful noise (music.)”
