Getting used to trains

When my first husband and I got married, we had the opportunity to move to a beautiful second floor apartment, reasonably priced, big rooms and a wonderful landlady.

Location was South Side on Riverside Drive next to the train tracks.

Soon after moving in, in bed, in the summer, windows open, suddenly here comes the train — oh my, so much noise. I was discouraged and upset to which my husband and landlady assured me I would get used to them.

How about that — did not take long and I got so used to the trains that if they were late or derailed, I was upset and couldn’t sleep.
