Republicans should disavow Trump

In the 2000 Presidential election, Vice-President Al Gore should have won in a landslide. The economy was doing well and the Federal Government was running budget surpluses.

Instead, Gore lost that election because he didn’t do enough to distance himself from President Clinton’s sex scandals.

As late as February of 2000, Gore was still saying that he was honored to count Clinton among his friends. It wasn’t until July of that year that Gore tried to distance himself from Clinton by saying, “I am my own man.”

Unfortunately for Gore, that was too late.

The same situation is now happening with Trump and the Republican Party.

The longer it takes Republicans to disavow Trump, the more Trump is going to drag them down with him. Republicans need to realize that Trump’s coattails are turning into millstones.
