We see on TV news and newspaper accounts that the “middle class” will receive a wonderful tax break. The standard tax deduction will be increased from $12,000 to $14,000.

Are middle class tax payers aware that both the US House and Senate Bills repeal the individual personal exemption, which is slated to be $4,150 in 2018. For a family of 3, this exemption would exceed $12,000.

I’m a 94-year-old widower who hasn’t paid any tax for several years because of my low income but now probably will pay a small tax because of the personal exemption repeal.

If this tax bill currently being debated is passed, the middle class will get the surprise of their life when they file their tax return.
