Tariffs are a tax, not a weapon
Tariffs are terrible but necessary according to a recent letter. They are a weapon to use to protect national security. Tariffs are a tax, not a weapon.
Congress passed a tax plan that dramatically cut taxes for industries and corporations. President Trump made a big show demonstrating all of the regulations he did away with, stacks of them. So much for the statement that we can not compete because of taxes and regulations. I am sure that other nations are saying that the US has taken advantage of them because of the trade deals they made with them.
The need to protect national security because we have to be able to supply our military in case of war is difficult to reason considering we have been at war for at least the last two decades and the military has been supplied that whole time. It is obvious the reason President Trump is doing this it is to get Mexico and Canada to cave to his demands to renegotiate NAFTA.
