Biking needs

My wife and I went on a Sunday bike ride on the River Walk. To get to the path, we went down the sidewalk on Maynard Street by Penn College. We were interested to see how the construction at Sheetz was going.

In the past, the cross traffic was treacherous and the sidewalk by Sheetz was narrow and obstructed by street light polls. We had hoped the new Sheetz would alleviate these problems.

From what we could see, the sidewalk has been replaced with one identical to the old, narrow and obstructed by street light poles. We hope we are wrong on this. Maynard Street is a main access to the River Walk and one where we frequently see families with small children going to the River Walk. I hope the final design addresses these needs.

As always, the River Walk was delightful. The Williamsport skyline looked great over the water. In the South Side park, the dog park was active, there was a baseball practice, and the real treat was three of the drum and bugle corps teams were practicing.
