Rethink who represents us

I find it interesting to read letters praising Congressman Marino for his work in Washington. Perhaps these people do not recall, choose not to remember or do not live in low-level flood plain areas. A few years ago Congress passed the Biggert Waters Act, which effectively more than quadrupled the cost of flood insurance for residences and businesses at the time. Congressman Marino supported and voted for this act.

Several weeks after his vote at a town hall meeting he was peppered with questions and concerns over the acts details and consequences. After seeming vague and unclear he was asked whether he read the act and answered that he did. A short time later at another town hall meeting filled with many residences whose flood insurance skyrocketed, Marino admitted he never read the act. Obviously he voted for it just because others in his party did or directed him to do so. Perhaps its time to rethink who we should be voting for in the 10th Congressional District.
