School uniforms?

As a sophomore from Williamsport Area High School, I support the idea of students having to wear uniforms at school. I support this idea for two reasons and as a student myself most of these general points have affected me during the years I’ve gone to school. With uniforms, it allows students and teachers to be more focused on education and not on clothes. With uniforms a level “playing field” among students reduces peer pressure and bullying.

I have noticed a huge emphasis on school dress code, especially within the past three years of my school education. Several times in my school, WAHS students have put their initial feelings out about being addressed due to their clothing that broke the schools dress rules whether it be for a shirt that showed the midriff or baggy pants. My school and many other schools struggle on a daily basis with confrontation on this topic so in order to simply shut this topic down, uniforms in schools will help to diminish this issue among many schools.

Uniforms are for the better and will not harm what any school is made of rater it will increase education focus and a decrease of clothing detraction.

Many students in this area and in many other schools are less fortunate and get judged because of their clothing, but if the school provides uniforms for them the “playing field” will be even and it will be less likely for students to be judged or bullied for their clothing. The elimination of bullying and unnecessary fights that may be a result of the continuous bullying will result in a more positive and peaceful atmosphere in the school and for the community.

Uniforms may positively impact our schools and our society. In a time where students are struggling to find themselves and other student don’t help by bullying, makes it a perfect opportunity to enforce uniforms in schools. By implementing this idea hopefully our communities and schools will be able to look ahead on rules and focus on education.
