I would like to thank Joseph R. Fischer for his recent letter, “So who are we?” I too have asked the same questions when someone writes in to the paper about the time when we were great. I see Mr. Fischer received the same responses in the comment section. My favorite was when someone positively commented on your letter, a comment was made to them then why do you stay if you think it is so bad here. Which is kind of funny when you considered they voted for someone who promised to make America great again. Why did they stay if things were so bad?
Usually the usual suspects in the comment section would say to someone who writes in and is one who is serving or did serve in the military, they thank them for your service. This time they did not. They must think you’re a liberal even though you never stated so. People of all political stripes have served and continue to serve in our military.
So Mr. Fischer, in honor of Veterans Day, which is on Nov. 11 and your letter was published on Nov. 10, thank you for your service. You are a true patriot just like those who served before you, with you and after you. Thank you to all who have served our nation along with those currently serving and to their families who love and support them at home. We are a grateful nation.
