We will all drown

We will all drown!

Well maybe not. Here is a little experiment you can do at home. Take a tall clear glass, drop in three or four ice cubes and pour water into the glass until all the ice cubes are floating. Then mark a line at the water level and let the ice melt. Then check the water level. It will not change, not even a tiny bit. Why you ask? Ice displaces its weight in water so when it melts the water level stays the same.

I believe the entire North Polar cap is floating on water, there is no land mass under it. OK what about Antarctica?

The central part of Antarctica has hardly any snow and only gets maybe an inch or two a year, much less than New York City, most of its ice is located on the many ice shelves around Antarctica like the giant Ross Ice Shelf and once again it’s floating on the water. Now and then huge chunks the size of Rhode Island break off and melt and nothing happens to the sea level.

So go to bed tonight and sleep well, you are not going to drown despite all the huff and puff from fear mongers.
