Blame game

Let’s do a rerun for a moment! About two months ago, the USCDC was aware of the pandemic in China. The Chinese kept this secret from the world for months and didn’t allow us to assist for several weeks! The World Health Organization stated on Jan. 14: “Don’t worry because China says coronavirus (2019-nCoV) isn’t contagious.” Just 60 days later, the global death had topped 8,000 and is still climbing.

Fast forward a moment. Some of my friends, acquaintances and relatives are now blaming President Trump for the coronavirus pandemic in the United States and not taking enough action. Some say our government should have had more testing and more tests available.

My question: How do you develop an accurate test overnight or in weeks that doesn’t give false results? Commonsense tells me our country tried tests that were used in other countries and found they were inaccurate when the virus hit our country. It took several weeks of testing before the FDA and CDC approved these testing devices. Now realize the government moves slowly. Please also understand the magnitude in making this happen. Testing, making the kits for a virtually unknown virus and shipping millions all over the country is absolutely mind boggling. This a real problem that’s affecting the world, our nation and our neighbors. The Trump haters will always hate him no matter what he does or doesn’t do and will always play politics at every turn.

There is not a reason now to blame any one person.

Being in the fire service as a first responder and EMT for many years tells me that fear is being compounded by inaccurate rumors on social media. I’ve seen it many times almost every day. My advice: Stay calm, relax, prepare for the worst and expect the best and we are in this thing together! Help those older neighbors and friends who are elderly and homebound.

Remember there is no know cure and can only treat the symptoms and in many cases death may be inevitable.

America is better than this. We can do better to stop the blame game. Our country is so divided, it’s time to be working together and fight this war on America!

United we stand and divided we fall.
