The elderly

This is about giving the elderly the services we need as we get older.

Why is it so hard to tell/give the products we need to have in order for us to live in this world? Many of us do not realize that there are so many things that we can get to make our lives better as we get older. I didn’t, until I went and asked a question. Isn’t that something? Ask questions! When we reach certain ages, we don’t know that there are many, many services out here to take advantage of. We worked for years and never knew. There should be pamphlets out there for us to read about all of the services we can take advantage of when we get older. A lot of people are too proud or are afraid that someone will take their homes from them. No one will take your home, no one can! I came from a family that never would take advantage of anything that resembled “charity.” I am by nature a curious person and went to the assistance office to ask what “Medicaid” was. When I came out, the state was going to pay for my medical insurance, they gave me food stamps, and so much more — I couldn’t believe my luck! Why didn’t I know about this before? I was then 73 or 74 years old and now am 80. After that, I needed something to get around on. I gave up my car (I tell everyone it was to save you) and now I have a scooter to get around on. I’m so thankful that I had a good doctor who helped me get that and No. 2 as well.

So many of us just do not know and our families are as clueless as we have been. Yes, it takes a lot of research on our part, but well worth it in the end. You can do it, I did, so can you.
