Supreme Court vacancy

Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Mueller investigation found instances of obstruction of justice by Trump, but found that criminal charges could not be brought against a sitting President due to an untested OLC opinion. The Mueller investigation found numerous instances of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, but insufficient evidence to indict and, again, the OLC opinion-based bar to indicting a sitting President. An unfinished counter-intelligence investigation was initiated by the FBI to examine Russian meddling in the 2016 election, with evidence of Trump campaign participation in the meddling. Trump is widely criticized for his affinity for racial supremacists and dictators and his perversion of the functions of the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.

Is Trump the sort of person who we want to select a nominee for the Supreme Court? Especially considering Trump’s alignment with extremist beliefs that directly conflict with the beliefs of the American people? Is the anti-abortion constituency willing to continue to support a President who otherwise is as un-Christian a president as we’ve ever had? Do we want a Supreme Court Justice who has voiced willingness to weaken or vacate many of our progressive laws? Who would upset the progressive/conservative balance of the Court? Who would sit on the Supreme Court bench for decades?

Please call your elected representatives and let them know if you want to prevent Mitch McConnell from seating Barrett and violating the “McConnell Rule.”
