The sexual revolution

I have a response to the Sun-Gazette’s glowing front-page article on the local library’s receipt of an award from the state library association and its editorial praising the library for its award. The award was given because of its “courageous” stance on promoting the LGBTQ lifestyle including to our little sons and daughters.

I still find it unfortunate that the powers that be in this institution of our community see a need to proselytize something so controversial and divisive in our society, especially to our children. If they want to have literature on these alternative lifestyles for adults, well, in the interest of presenting alternate views I would accept that as long as it’s not pornographic. Trying to expose it to our little ones? That’s crossing the line.

But, unfortunately, I am not surprised. This is a clear signal to the community that one of our cherished local institutions has been captured by the Woke culture. (And don’t kid yourself about this newspaper. It has also been captured)

You see, this trend is all part of the bigger picture promoted by the Woke: the sexual revolution. This elitist movement also promotes “anti-racism,” which is nothing more than left-wing racism, and socialism. Wokism has never had qualms about crossing lines.

A few short years after the Supreme Court gave its blessing to gay marriage, the movement has quickly moved on to other forms of previously taboo sexual expression. Polyamory was always thought to be the next battle by both the Woke and those opposed to the steady march of this revolution. Those who are watching have noted that Kohls, the largest department store chain in the United States is now promoting polyamory in its advertising. It’s been supporting gay rights for awhile now. It even has a special line of clothing focused on gay pride.

Transgender identification, another sexual taboo, is also being rammed down our throats by the Woke culture and is becoming quite popular. A study in the June issue of Pediatrics reported that 10% of students polled at a number of high schools in the Pittsburgh area identified as gender fluid. If it hasn’t already made its mark in our local high schools it soon will. Pittsburgh’s not that far away.

So, what’s a Christian to do (if you haven’t already guessed, yeah. I’m a Christ follower)? Let’s leave that discussion for a moment. This is for those who are not His disciples who perhaps have not yet been deluded by Wokism. The sexual revolution has left its catastrophic wake in Western culture. Divorce, once rare, now common, has destroyed families and lives. Fractured relationships, fractured lives.

There IS another option. Turn to God. With God, all things are possible including finding a new lifestyle that delivers on its promise to bring a life of true freedom, reward and immense joy. Jesus has literally saved countless lives. You see, the choice is doing what YOU want to do or what GOD wants of you. God has your best interests at heart. So let go of you and let God get hold of you.

As for we Christians, above all put on love. As St Paul said, love is patient and kind. So, while not accepting the behaviors of those on the road to perdition, let’s walk along side them if we are able and strong in our faith. Let them see what real love looks like. After all, it’s not “a four letter word”. And don’t condemn or condescend. It has little to do with us. There but for grace go you or I. We are all sinners in need of our Savior.
